Empire ICON XDL Competition

2004 KAWASAKI ZX636

Revised, lightened, and renewed, “Slim” as rider Ernie Vigil has termed her, was the perfect weapon for the 2011 XDL Sportbike Freestyle championship. What started life as a 2004 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, has become the ultimate freestyling machine. Stripped of bodywork and taken down to the bare necessities, Galespeed wheels, the unbelievably light aluminum pegs that Ernie’s teammate Shin makes in Japan, a Freestyle Ingenuity [engine protection] were added to outfit Slim for the season ahead. On top of that, A Leo Vince full pipe, 2009 ZX-6R front end, custom bars, and a shorter, lighter tail unit were added to fit the bike to Ernie’s taste. Slim reinvigorated Ernie’s passion for the sport, and is a window into what it takes to make a premier freestyle machine.
